Petko Kalimanov
Project Manager, Network Infrastructure Department
- When did you join TIS and how is your career going so far?
I joined TIS in September 2019 as a Project Manager. When applying I was attracted by the wide range of modern areas the company is focused on, which relatively means a lot of opportunities for professional development.
- What does your job entail and what challenges do you meet?
As a PM, I have to successfully complete projects in the field of mobile communications, satellite, radar and defense systems. Each project is specific but there is something common – all projects call for a wide range of specialists to work together at the same time in order to build infrastructure for the relevant equipment.
My work is very diverse and dynamic, so are the challenges. Most of the time I have to keep the balance between the interests of the company and the customer’s satisfaction.
- What kind of knowledge, skills and qualities do you need to perform this role? How do you upgrade?
I believe that you must have quite a broad set of knowledge and skills to be a good project manager, ranging from finance to engineering ones. Now I benefit a lot from my educational background in Civil Engineering and my previous experience as a Technical Site Manager in the field of telecommunications and security. Fortunately, my colleagues are experienced experts who can advise me on almost any matter when I fall short as long as I am not afraid of asking questions. The best way to improve is to realize that there are many things you do not know, and you should be always ready to learn a new lesson.
- What do you value most in your workplace? What’s your biggest motivator to come to work in the morning?
My biggest motivator to come to work in the morning is the highly motivated team which is ready to meet any challenge.
