Automation Team Leader, Security and Automaton Department

  • When did you join TIS and how is your career going so far?

I can’t even remember. I think it has been 7 or 8 years since I joined Telelink. It is so interesting that I don’t even count the days and I feel as if it were yesterday.

I started as an Automation Engineer, preparing technical solutions for building management systems. But I have always done much more things than that. Having previous experience, I combined the roles of a Technical manager and a Project manager over the years, so that I was somehow naturally appointed as an Automation Team Leader.

  • What does your job entail and what challenges do you meet?

I am doing everything related to a project for building management system, starting from preparation of a technical proposal, followed by engineering design, then observing all related activities to meet the deadlines. The main goal is not just meet the customers’ requirements, but to propose solutions they haven’t even thought of, in order to optimize their business. And of course, this should be beneficial for TIS.

Each project brings different challenges. We haven’t worked on two identical projects so far with my team. Each one has specifics which we must consider and handle. And this is the most interesting part of my job.

  • What kind of knowledge, skills and qualities do you need to perform this role? How do you upgrade?

You must have a complex set of skills and knowledge. But the most important thing is to have passion for learning. I have more than 11 years of experience in building management systems and I believe that I don’t know everything. Every day I handle variety of issues. It’s helpful to remember them and try predicting for our next projects.

Graduating high-school I thought I would stop reading. Later, studying at the university, I realized where to find my best sources of learning to do my assignments. Now I read every day. Information flow is dynamic and if you stop reading for a year, for example, you will find out how much things have changed, and you will need time to resume.

Besides reading, my team and I attend technical trainings, and internationals workshops and exhibitions. We are doing our best to be up to date with the latest trends and standards, so that we can propose the best solutions.

  • What do you value most in your workplace? What’s your biggest motivator to come to work in the morning?

The most valuable thing at TIS is the team. The projects we are working on demand teamwork and if you don’t have a good team, it won’t work. We have worked on large scale projects with tight deadlines and the work of the whole team proved crucial. Sometimes each of us has worked 16 hours a day, so that we can make things happen.

I am driven and motivated by the great working environment, my friendly colleagues and the interesting and challenging work. If you are doing the same things every day, you will get bored and will stop developing as a person and a professional.
