About the job:

The role of the Operations and Maintenance Technician ensures the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of photovoltaic power plants (PV plants) and energy storage systems (BESS) through performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and equipment monitoring.

 

As an Operations and Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Inspecting and maintaining photovoltaic modules, inverters, transformers, low- and medium-voltage switchgear, and BESS systems.
  • Maintaining and ensuring the proper operation of communication and network equipment, including communication modules, sensors, and weather stations.Performing routine maintenance according to technical regulations and instructions.
  •  Checking electrical installations – connections, grounding, insulation resistance, DC/AC parameters.
  • Conducting tests on BESS systems: balancing, checking battery modules, cooling, and fire protection systems.
  • Participating in seasonal maintenance and planned technical shutdowns.
  • Troubleshooting faults in electrical, electronic, mechanical, and network systems.
  • Performing repairs and replacements of defective components: PV modules, inverters, DC cables, fuses, circuit breakers, BESS modules, etc.
  • Working with specialized measuring instruments (IV testers, thermal cameras, calibration tools).
  • Keeping a log of maintenance, repairs, and measurements.
  • Preparing reports on performed activities, materials used, and spare parts.
  • Documenting all activities in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhering to all safety rules when working with electrical equipment, PV, and BESS systems.
  • Participating in training on occupational health and safety, fire safety, and live voltage work (where applicable).
  • Coordinating activities with the protection and automation team, IT/communications, and the energy dispatch center.
  • Monitoring the condition of personal protective equipment and emergency systems.
  • Being responsible for the proper operation and condition of assigned equipment.
  • Ensuring quality and safe execution of assigned tasks.

 

To do this as a professional, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Working with electrical installations and electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering and renewable energy sources.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Secondary specialized or higher technical education in electrical engineering, energy, automation, electronics, or equivalent.
  • Experience in operation/maintenance of power facilities, PV plants, BESS, or electrical equipment.
  • Experience with professional measuring instruments.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office; advantage – specialized software).
  • Analytical thinking and responsibility.
  • Teamwork skills and ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • IV-level electrical safety qualification for work in electrical installations and networks up to and above 1000V.
  • Training, experience, and certifications in working with renewable energy equipment or BESS are considered an advantage.
  • Coordinating activities with engineers, dispatchers, installation teams, and external contractors.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in indoor electrical facilities.
  • Driving license category B.
  • Fieldwork experience.
  • Willingness to participate in emergency or on-call activities.
