Challenge
To support FRONTEX operations, the Bulgarian Border Police needed advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) capable of enhancing maritime border surveillance and real-time monitoring. The challenge was to deploy VTOL drones suitable for both vessel-based and land-based operation, ensuring stability, reliability, and compliance with European standards for border security systems.
Solution
As the 90% partner in Consortium Morsko Konche, Telelink Infra Services executed a turnkey delivery, integration, and certification of shipborne and mobile UAS platforms. The project included:
-
Delivery of two ALPHA 900 VTOL UAV helicopters, one shipborne and one mobile, each with up to 4 hours endurance.
-
Integration of EO/IR multisensor payloads with Teledyne FLIR TAU 2 thermal modules on stabilized gimbals.
-
Installation of a Vessel Control Station (VCS) onboard a patrol ship, equipped with dual 19” operator consoles, antenna modules, and mission-management software.
-
Deployment of a GCase DUO Mobile Control Station offering identical control capability within a 10 km line-of-sight range.
-
Delivery of digital mapping software, full warranty coverage, and first-year insurance.
-
Establishment of a technical support help desk and certified operator training under FRONTEX standards.
-
Full testing and compliance verification at the Border Police Port – Sozopol.
Outcome
The Bulgarian Border Police now possesses a modern, fully interoperable UAS capability for maritime border protection. The dual shipborne-mobile setup provides operational flexibility, enhanced situational awareness, and strengthened cooperation with FRONTEX — elevating Bulgaria’s aerial surveillance capacity to European standards.
