Challenge
The Ministry of Interior required a full modernization and expansion of Bulgaria’s nationwide TETRA digital communication and microwave network — a mission-critical system supporting secure, encrypted communication for police, emergency, and national security services. The objective was to strengthen coverage, resilience, and operational reliability across all regions of the country.
Solution
As part of the Consortium National System for Critical Communications, Telelink Infra Services delivered a complete upgrade of the national TETRA and microwave network. The scope included:
-
Deployment of 42 new TETRA radio base stations with antenna-feeder systems, grounding, and lightning protection.
-
Delivery and integration of 144 Ericsson MINI-LINK microwave systems ensuring redundancy and high availability.
-
Construction of technical shelters, rooftop masts, diesel generators, and electrical infrastructure at remote sites.
-
Implementation of data center technologies — Cisco UCS servers, Dell storage systems, VMware virtualization, and SecuGATE secure communication platforms.
-
Deployment of IP video surveillance, fire alarm, and climate control systems for nationwide site monitoring.
-
Training and certification for MoI specialists to ensure smooth operation and long-term system sustainability.
Outcome
The Ministry of Interior now operates a fully modernized, resilient, and encrypted TETRA and microwave communication system. The upgraded network provides stronger coverage, higher reliability, and improved coordination across all national security structures — supporting Bulgaria with state-of-the-art critical communications infrastructure.
